I used to think self-help books were a joke. I mean the name themselves just turned me off.
Why would I need help?
I had a strong foundation thanks to my parents upbringing.
I could deal with the stress in my life.
I had money.
Life was good.
What would I need help with?
Well, a few years ago, I found myself overwhelmed with my new business and as such I chose to read books to fill in the missing pieces.
One book led to another and the more I read, the more self-development intrigued me.
I found that many self-help books weren’t for THOSE people, but everyone looking to make a change in their lives.
They weren’t just about dealing with problems but living a better life.
And that’s something I think we all want.
Managers can become presidents.
Millionaires can go for their first billion.
And people with good relationships have the opportunity to make them great.
There’s always room for improvement.
That’s what self-help books like iSucceed are about.
I was reminded of this recently when a friend of mine told me that they had always thought that self-help stuff was for the birds but after having read my blog they found it rather eye-opening.
They changed from not having any interest in reading my book, to wanting to read it.
So, one down, a million more to go.
We all think that we know enough to live our lives and, most of the time, we do.
But if you feel there’s something more you want out of life, maybe you should give self-help books a chance.
What have you got to lose?

I think there’s a slightly negative stigma attached to those who turn to self help books as people incapable of figuring out their problems. I used to feel that way and I think another factor against these books is the time involved. However, your ideas and the concise way it’s written, combined with great stories from you and others entertain and motivate me to follow your advice and seek positive ways to enhance my life. Thanks Adrian : )
Linh, your words are music to my ears. glad to know I can make a difference…it means more to me than you know.
