My wife is often asked by people – how did you learn English?
People wonder if she studied abroad, or if she was born overseas.
No and no. She went old school – she studied.
There were nights when she cried and days when she wanted to give up.
But she didn’t. She listened, read, practiced and kept at it.
And, surprise, surprise, she mastered it.
You don’t have to be a genius to understand how she did it, and you don’t have to be a genius to do it.
All you have to have is desire and a little elbow grease.
As I am hired to help people achieve more in their lives I get asked a lot of questions, here are some of the common ones.
- How can I master a new skill?
- How can I be rich?
- How can I have a good relationship with my family?
- How can I build a successful company?
- How can I get what I want?
- How can I manage my team?
How, how, how.
How is simply the strategy in order to achieve a result.
Say I want to get a job, how would I go about doing it?
- Develop my skills
- Practice being interviewed
- Study up on the company
- Dress well
Again, it’s not rocket science.
We all know HOW to get a job.
We all know HOW to learn a language.
And we certainly all know HOW to lose weight.
The problem is we aren’t willing to do what it takes – hard work.
But hard work alone isn’t enough, we need a WHY.
WHY is what keeps you going when the going gets tough.
WHY helps you stay up late and wake up early to do what needs to be done.
A strong enough WHY makes all the HOWs easy.
Ask any successful person how they became successful and I doubt very few will tell you HOW they succeeded, instead they will tell you what inspired them to take action to create success.
Find your WHYs and you’ll find your HOWs.

That’s one of important tip to keep in mind.
Even though people know how to do something or “short-cut” to success,
they gradually come to realize that they don’t keep their motivation high as any successful person does,
then they give up.
In such cases, it might be effective to ask oneself, “why I want to do it?”
It will help us to understand whether our will is strong enough to achieve it or not.
I really like the phrase, “A strong enough WHY makes all the HOWs easy.”
