see how easily you can enjoy life with baby steps

In case you didn’t know it, I’m a big movie fan.

Well, I was, until about two years ago when my son became the center of our world.

These days it’s hard to find time to squeeze in a movie but we do so whenever we get the chance.

The great thing about movies is they transport us to a place in time or an entirely foreign world.

For me movies are about entertainment.

I don’t really care about what genre, who’s in it, or even what it’s about.

All I care about is – is the movie good?

One movie that made me laugh was “What about Bob?” way back in 1991.

In it, Bill Murray plays a man in need of a psychologist and happens to be put in touch with one played by Richard Dreyfuss.

One thing leads to another and basically Bill Murray ends up driving Richard Dreyfuss up the wall.

So how does this relate to success?

Richard Dreyfuss comes up with the idea of “baby steps” to help Bill Murray.

“Baby steps” being tiny steps towards our goal.

In time, those steps will get us to where we are going as long as we continually work at them.

Unfortunately people are always looking for that quick fix to their problems whether they are issues related to health, work, family, love, or money.

People want

  • to lose 10 kilos
  • to be rich
  • to get a promotion
  • to pass a test
  • to have good skin
  • to be strong

The problem is they want them today with as little effort as possible.

These things take time and dedication.

Quick-fixes don’t address the underlying problem and, in time, you’ll find yourself back where you started.

I used to try and do 200 push-ups a day.

It took me time to get up that high but I did it, only to hurt my wrist in the process which put me out of commission for some time.

I ended up losing all that I had worked for.

These days I do 10 push-ups a day, every day. Baby steps.

Small result, but no pain.

But slowly I have gotten what I wanted; more muscle.

Baby steps may not be exciting or flashy but they get the job done.

They worked for Bill Murray. And they worked for me

They will work for you.
