the lighter side of life

Recently my posts have focused on the financial markets, creating success and the like.

My messages were longer and more in-depth.

Despite how serious I am about success and money I do love to kick back and enjoy a good movie (or TV show).

In fact, it’s my favorite past-time.

And as we’re heading into autumn that means a new TV line-up and all the summer blockbusters being released on DVD.

Thanks to iTunes now I can get access to the latest shows and movies with just a few clicks. And with Apple working on a TV for release next year it’ll be even easier.

Now before I get into some of my recommendations I would like to say that I like a mixture of shows. I’m not big into reality shows, except for SYTYCD which I can’t get enough of.

I’m overwhelmed with all the CSI shows and their lookalikes. Just too much of a good thing I guess.

Good comedy never gets old and I love shows that can mix in comedy and good drama at the same time.

Good acting is a necessity which is why House makes my list year after year, no matter how ridiculous it can get.

Then there are those shows that just are different of which I would classify a show like Six Feet Under under. Not at the top of my list, but worth watching when I’ve got other things to do.

Here are some shows that have made the cut so far:

  • Castle
  • Revenge (new)
  • Person of Interest (new)
  • Blue Bloods

Of the shows that have yet to be released, or am waiting for, I am looking forward to the following:

  • The Killing season 2 (season 1 was slow but intense – check it out)
  • Terra Nova
  • Pan-Am
  • Ringer
  • Suits
  • SYTYCD
  • House
  • The Big Bang Theory
  • Sherlock
  • The IT Crowd

It’s not easy with my son being three trying to squeeze them all in but somehow I find the time. In fact, in my family, it’s my job to weed out the good from the bad. What can I say? It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it. One of the things I think all parents can attest to is the need to be creative in finding time to do the things we want to when we have young children.

Sadly, my days of unlimited free time are long since dead. That was my youth…and while I’m still only 37 years young, I have many more responsibilities than I did back then. I also have many more goals I want to achieve. I have to take care of health and my mind much more carefully.

But, how matter how hard I work I always keep in mind that if you can’t enjoy your life then why are you working so hard.

Be sure to enjoy yourself in pursuit of your dreams. Take time off to savor the victories and replenish your energy. There’s no need to always be on the go…allow yourself to be in tip top shape mentally by giving yourself these little escapes. The key word there being LITTLE.

Manage your enjoyment.

Me, I’m off to enjoy another show.
