harnessing the power of the subconscious

In Napoleon Hill’s breakthrough success, “Think and Grow Rich,” he devotes one entire chapter to the concept of the subconscious and for good reason.

We all know that we have two minds, the active mind, the conscious, and the mind that works behind the scenes, the subconscious.

While we cannot actively control the subconscious as it is in the background we can program it to work for us, and not against us.

In fact, learning this secret is one that will single-handedly make every other success principle work.

And the good news, it’s really not that hard to do.

The secret is to get away from the issues at hand. Now, that doesn’t mean you should ignore them entirely.

What I mean is that you should address the issues head on at first.

Go to work on each problem that you encounter. Don’t just pawn it off onto someone else.

Each problem is an opportunity for you to grow, to learn, to become.

So start by asking good questions. Then go looking for answers. Use the tools at your disposal, the Internet, being the most obvious choice. Read books on the subject matter. Maybe even call one or two people that might have an idea. Then if you can’t find an answer – TAKE A BREAK.

Do something else. Don’t focus on the problem, the old expression is true, “You can’t see the forest for the trees.”

That’s also why many self-help experts in a variety of fields concur, although not in quite the same manner.

John Gray, author of the best selling relationship series, “Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus” goes into the concept of writing love letters.

Jim Rohn, America’s foremost business philosopher, talks about putting the problem down on paper.

Brian Tracy, one of the big names of the achievement industry, talks about how writing your goals down will increase your chances of achieving them by 1000%.

So, if they say it works, I’m inclined to believe them.

Then, after you’ve done all that stop and relax.

Take a break.

Refresh yourself.

In essence, do everything you can to get away from what you were just doing.

Why? Because while you busy your mind with other things your subconscious continues to work on the previous information.

We all know this feeling. We start doing something else because we can’t figure something out and then the minute you start doing something else the answer becomes clear.

That is the power of the subconscious.

So if that’s all it takes what is the key component to get the gears working? Knowledge.

With each new piece of knowledge we consume we have more to work with.

That’s why it’s ever so important that you get knowledge from a variety of sources. And more importantly, valuable sources.

It’s easy enough to click over to the latest celebrity gossip but will that help you build your health, your wisdom and your success? If it does, go for it. If not, pass.

As my mentor was said, “Skip the trash.” We don’t have enough time to do the things that are important so why waste any on the unimportant.

It will take time to gather reliable sources that work for you but once you’ve found them continually expose your mind to them.

My new concept is this – each week I read one new book, listen to one new audio session and try and squeeze in a DVD training but when I’m in my car I listen to stuff I’ve listened to before. I have now come up with my hit list of audio lectures that seems to sound new each time I turn them on.

That way I get the new and the old each and every week. I’m studying and reviewing at the same time.

Fortifying what I already know and adding more ammunition with which to use.

I’m ready for battle.

With my subconscious on my side.
