success myth # 1: belief

One of the great myths out there in the world today is that if you just believe enough, things will turn out the way you want them to.

Sadly though, each year thousands of well-meaning people go bankrupt all with big dreams and belief that they would strike it rich.

On countless occasions I have made promises I had no business making.

I believed I could get it done, but had no idea just what it would take to get it done.

Needless to say, I let people down.

I’m sure you’ve all heard people say that “everything will be ok, it’ll work out.”

Those words have sent shivers down my spine quite a few times in my life.

But if we want things to work out, then we must do just that “work out.”

I’m not referring to exercise, but rather taking action to ensure that things work out the way we want them to.

Successful people don’t sit around and wait for things to happen, they make them happen.

Each time I meet a new client for the first time I always ask them why they have decided to invest in themselves and so many of them come in with big dreams – that they will do whatever it takes to learn the material.

I applaud their desire to learn and tell them I’m looking forward to working alongside them, but that to achieve success in any field we need to

  • Study hard
  • Apply knowledge
  • Keep track of our effort

But it’s one thing to say we’ll study every day for an hour and another to actually do it.

Simply saying we’ll do something is just the first step.

Action is the key ingredient in taking our dreams in our head and turning them into reality.

Nearly every success story, even overnight ones, have their success based on effort.

So what actions are you taking to build your future?

  1. I can’t agree more, and I have made this mistake myself time and time again. I have on countless occasions made promises that there was no way I could keep. The problem being, I didn’t even know I couldn’t keep the promise at the time, but once I got down to the actual doing it, that’s when I suddenly realized that I hadn’t thought it through properly, or that I hadn’t done the research needed.

I just read the first chapter of your book that you offered, and can’t wait until it’s released to read the rest.

    Thank you,

    Chris

    1. Hi Chris,

Congratulations on being the first person to leave a comment 🙂 One time management tip that I will go into in more detail at a later time is the concept of “saying no.” It’s easy to make promises but the problem is keeping them all. Glad you liked the first chapter, I’m sure you’ll find the other chapters filled with powerful insights.

      Keep in touch.
