Each day that passes is one day gone. It’s a day that we’ll never get back.
Time marches on regardless of what we choose to do.
The future is always just right around the corner.
We’re powerless to stop it. And while many people try to fight it, the result is always the same.
But we can do something much more exciting; we can CREATE it.
All we need is to know two simple things – where we are & where we’re headed.
Nearly everyone I know likes to dream, or more appropriately hope, that they will get everything they want out of life.
Dreams motivate us, they keep us working late into the night and get us up early each morning.
Unfortunately what most people fail to do is to make a plan to get them from where they are to where they want to go.
Every plan has a start and a finish.
Answer these questions to get an idea of where your life is headed.
- How much do you set aside to invest each month?
- How much do you spend on fun each month?
- How much money do you have saved up?
- What age do you want to retire?
- What are your goals for the next year? The next 10 years?
- What are you not doing that you should be doing to get you closer to your dreams?
- Are you doing some sort of exercise at least 4 days a week?
- Are you eating a balanced diet?
- How many times have you told your children, spouse, and parents that you love them recently?
- When was the last time you REALLY thanked a friend for their help?
- What are you doing to improve your chances in investing?
- If you continue heading down the path you’re heading, will you be happy where you end up in 20 years?
- Are you trying to expand your network?
- What social media are you doing?
- Who are you working with?
- How many seminars have you taken this past year?
- How many books have you read to improve yourself over the last year?
- How many hours do you study each week?
- Are you capturing your ideas in a journal?
- Are you happy with your life today or would you change something?
These are just some of the many questions you need to ask yourself to create your plan. And the tougher you are in creating the plan, the better off you’ll be.
You’ll be able to see potential problems before they happen and thereby prepare for them.
Once you’ve answered these questions (and any more you can think of that apply to your specific situation) just sit back and read them aloud.
Read them over and over. Then envision your future.
If you like what you see, smile and keep going. On the other hand, if you feel something’s missing, go to work to make the necessary changes.
What Benjamin Franklin said about preparation is true, “For every minute spent in organizing, an hour is earned.”
The future is coming, let’s make ours a good one.
