the secret to Apple’s success

15 years ago Apple was in such dire straits that it needed an investment of $250 million by their arch-rival Microsoft to keep it afloat.

Boy, what a difference 15 years make.

Today Apple is the talk of the town.

Microsoft is somewhat yesterday’s news when it comes to everything except it’s gaming system, the XBox, and it’s publishing suite, Office.

Instead people are talking about the iPhone, the iMac and now the iPad.

I must say that I’m a believer. I admit that most of my computer stuff is Windows but I wouldn’t blink an eye to switch what with the eye-popping computers that Apple is creating these days.

I have the MacBook (a notebook computer), the iPhone (and I can’t wait to upgrade) and will have the iPad2 within the next couple of weeks.

For anyone who is thinking of buying a computer I always tell them to go with a Mac unless they really know what they are doing.

Most people don’t.

So what is the key to Apple’s rise to the stratosphere? I believe it boils down to four key elements.

  • Simplicity
  • Innovation
  • Style
  • Reliability

When it comes to our cars and our computers the single most important thing is that get the job done.

In a word, Apple stuff WORKS.

I can’t make it any simpler than that.

Everything is seamless. From the minute you open the box it’s ready to go with no garbage on it.

While it might take a short time to get used to the new set-up Apple has kindly prepared videos for us to watch guiding through many things we might want to do; how to do video editing, create a photo book, put together a presentation.

They have taken out the hassle of using a computer. Genius.

In today’s world of unlimited information, the companies that are dominating are making things simple – Google for search, Facebook for communication and Apple for computers.

It’s not about being flashy or more powerful but rather making people’s lives easier and faster.

Take the iPhone.

It’s a mobile phone combined with an iPod with the ability to access the internet and a whole heap of applications from their app store.

Go home, connect it to iTunes and you’re set to rock and roll.

Today’s world moves so very fast and we have to do so much just to keep up.

We don’t have time to mess around setting things up and adjusting this and that.

Apple products take the frustration out of things which is why they have become the industry leader.

So if you think you’ve got the next big thing, remember to apply Apple’s four keys to success – simplicity, innovation, style and reliability – to determine if you’ve really got a winner.
