do you wanna be a loser like me

Two years ago I heard about this new show starting called “Glee.”

The trailers here weren’t anything special but I admit I was curious to see what it was all about.

One night after plunking myself down on the sofa after a warm bath I turned on the TV and happened to find it on.

To my surprise, I loved it.

The scripts were well written, the humor clever and the music fabulous.

The story is about a group of typical high school students struggling with their new found infamy of being in the “Glee” club – often considered the least cool in school.

So what does this show have to do about success?

Everything.

It’s about overcoming insurmountable odds, dealing with strife from within and attacks from outside.

In life we must battle with our own demons just as much as external forces.

Each season they are working towards winning a contest on a large scale; regionals or nationals.

In the latest episode they actually wrote their own songs for the first time and I found both songs inspiring.

Their final song of the competition was “Loser Like Me” in which they proceed to use all that they have learned and experienced from their trials and tribulations of being in Glee Club.

They took what had caused them so much pain and turned it into a winning song.

Now that’s what success is all about.

In life, we all take our hits. We get knocked down from time to time but it’s not how many times you fall down that really matters but whether you get back up.

Life is a battle. Big surprise there.

We battle with money. We battle with friends. We battle with work. And we battle with ourselves.

Success in life is often taking all the crap that gets thrown at us and making the best of it.

The next time we experience something remember the words of Zig Ziglar, “When you respond to life, that’s positive; when you react to life, that’s negative.”

For those of you who are interested in listening to their song – please enjoy the video below. It’s well worth a listen.
