a pen and a piece of paper are two of the most powerful tools at our disposal

Computers are a feat of human ingenuity. With the right skills there’s no telling what we can do with a standard computer.

We have access to knowledge that used to be in the hands of the privileged.

We can do things faster with less effort than ever before.

And now we can carry it around with us.

Email, photography, graphic design, documents, excel sheets, study material and much much more make it by far the most powerful success tool ever.

And yet, here I am telling you to grab a pen and a piece of paper.

There’s something magical when we put our pen to paper.

Words, ideas, visions can all be created with two simple items that cost less than a pack of gum.

In this day and age it’s easy to think that without a computer we can’t do anything but for most things, a simple pen and a piece of paper will suffice.

We can capture our visions through drawings and words then share them with others.

Nearly every deal in the world has been done this way, it’s just that nowadays we have spruced things up with Powerpoint and Spreadsheets.

In the end, it’s not how nice the presentation looks (although it does help), it’s the idea that counts.

And just one of those ideas could change your life forever.

Too often we entrust our memory to guard these secrets, don’t.

Take the idea out of your head and get it on paper.

Read it back to yourself. Think about it. Add comments, explanations, more ideas.

Then when you’re finished, or run out of time, file it away where you can find it again later.

Don’t let your ideas sit at the bottom of a drawer crumpled up. Instead

  1. Get a journal and rewrite your ideas there.
  2. Get a three-ring binder and file them away.
  3. Create a word document for quick access. (and be sure to make a back-up)

And finally, be sure to go over them from time to time.

Value your ideas. One day, when you’re contemplating where to invest your next million, you’ll be glad you did.
