brewster’s millions, a movie not to be missed

Over the years I’ve lost count how many movies I’ve watched.

Ever since I moved overseas and we bought a Betamax I was hooked.

In high school it was my weekly chore to select 8 movies for the week as at the time Thailand didn’t have any English TV available.

Each week I’d jump in a cab and head across town to the video store where I would spend a good hour or so going through which movies would make this week’s cut.

I often brought along my best friend for company and it was one of happiest times for me – I was not only having fun but contributing to the family.

At one point in my life I calculated how many movies I’d seen and came up with around 4,000.

Now I wish I could say that was time well spent but I’m sad to say that I’ve watched more than a few movies that just plain sucked.

However today I’m here to tell you about one I saw way back when and its story is one that anyone interested in success should watch.

It’s funny, crazy and has an interesting premise.

I’m actually surprised that there hasn’t been a remake as it’s one of my favorite movies of all time – Brewster’s Millions.

In it Brewster, played by Richard Pryor, is set to inherit $300 million from an uncle he never knew existed but there’s a catch.

In order to get the entire amount he must spend $30 million in one month under certain conditions which his uncle hopes will teach him some valuable lessons.

Rather than tell you what happens I’d recommend you check it out yourself.

Why do I recommend this movie in particular? Because it shows that money has the power to be both a blessing and a curse.

Money may change our lives but it doesn’t change us, it just makes us more of who we are.

Whether you agree with that statement or not, one thing’s for sure – watching “Brewster’s Millions” is two hours well spent.

Enjoy.
