three words to remember to get your message out there

Simple, powerful, memorable…

Three simple words every entrepreneur should remember.

Today we are constantly being bombarded with ads for everything from sports drinks to health insurance.

Big companies know that repetition is very powerful and spend big bucks to establish top-of-mind awareness in the consumers’ minds even if they don’t realize it.

Think soft drinks: Coke.

Think cigarettes: Marlboro.

Think fast food: McDonald’s.

Think beer: Budweiser.

These brands have been around for years and succeeded in achieving what they set out to do. Leave a mark in our minds so that when we crave a soft drink on a hot summer day the first thing that pops into our mind is that little red can.

Competitors know they might not be able to out spend the big boys, but they can out-think them which is what marketing is all about today.

Sure, the big companies have deep pockets but thanks to YouTube and social media now guerrilla marketing is in full swing and anyone can create a viral hit and become an overnight sensation.

This year, the story of video has to be Gangnam Style, a Korean music video with everything it needs to succeed.

Considering it had just surpassed Lady Gaga’s video as the most watched video on the planet with 330,000,000 hits when I first saw it and today, a month later, it sits at 651,616,994, I think it’s safe to say that it could become the first ever video to have a trillion hits.

And no, it didn’t have a production budget like Apple.

Thanks to technology, the playing field had been evened out allowing the little guy (that’s us) to get a bigger piece of the pie.

The future is moving more and more toward video advertising regardless of what business you’re in, so get out your iPhone and get to work.

Today, all it takes it a little ingenuity.

And with that, I thought I’d share with you a few of my favorite videos that succeeded in leaving a lasting image in my mind (all using humor). It wasn’t star power that made these commercials work but the magic three words at work.

Enjoy…and good luck.

Adrian
