A few years back, I had heard about this new site called Facebook.
I thought it would be a pretty cool way to get in touch with some friends that I’d lost touch with.
Today it’s so much more than just a way of tracking down long lost pals.
It’s a platform to share ideas, introduce products, keep in touch, play games, advertise and much much more.
More and more I find myself using Facebook as my main source of information.
The thing I love most about Facebook is being able to share pictures, videos, quotes, events, services in less than a minute with hundreds, if not thousands, of people.
Just the other day I came across a cute article entitled “Top 10 Tips To Be Happy” and it was so good that I thought I should share them with you as well as my own take on them.
Let’s go through the list first.
- Let go, forget the burdens of the past.
- Be whoever you want to be.
- Think positively.
- Remember that everything happens for a reason.
- Change.
- Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves.
- Build relationships.
- Live your live with purpose.
- Take responsibility.
- Smile
I’m of the belief that people tend to make life more complicated than it needs to be. This short list, if applied, can work miracles in our lives. Here’s why.
Being able to forget the past is a sign of maturity. That doesn’t mean you forget the lessons of the past, but that focus on what’s important. The past is the past. You can’t change it. Focus on the future and how you can implement ideas today.
One of the greatest lessons in life is that you must be true to yourself. Many people choose financial security over happiness and take jobs they simply don’t have any interest in. The problem is this is that their heart isn’t in it and people can tell.
Our attitude is something that we have complete control of and one with a positive attitude will stand out from the crowd and it will be reflected in everything they do. People like being around positive thinkers. There’s only so much negativity a person can take.
Those positive thinkers have a magnetic quality about them, which makes them approachable, likable and trustworthy.
Sometimes we curse the heavens because of accidents or events that are beyond our control, other times we are the cause of our own problems. Regardless of which it is problems are merely opportunities in disguise. If you can discover the silver lining then you’ll come away something powerful – the ability to overcome adversity.
As humans have been given the gift of choice if we don’t like who we are, where we are, or what we are…then change. As Jim Rohn, my mentor says, “You are not a tree.” Change is like taxes and death. It’s guaranteed. The only question is whether we change with it or do we get left behind.
When we look back over our lives, it is seemingly filled with big events – our 18th birthday, our graduation, marriage, etc. But each of those events consisted of hundreds of small events. In life and business, when we are able to handle the small issues, the big issues will take care of themselves.
People are what make life worth living. Sharing our joys and our frustrations is part of the fun. Our loved ones inspire us and challenge us to be better. What good is it to be rich and have no one to share it with? Life was meant to be shared.
Purpose is powerful. It drives you. It pushes you to keep going. It gives you a reason to put in the long hours, to wake up early, to study more, to try, to go for it.
Responsibility is the price of admission of success. Success has a price and we must be willing to pay it. A big part of that is growing up.
Life is full of hardships. There is pain and suffering all around us. Disease is kept just out of reach, but it’s always lurking. And yet, despite all this, life is good. That air you’re breathing is more valuable than you realize. It means you’re alive and that means you have another chance to achieve your dreams. So smile…
There you have it, 10 simple concepts on being happy.
Good luck,
